Programs for Parents (PfP) has successfully trained 18 Early Childhood Family Workers to earn the Family Development Credential (FDC). The Early Childhood Family Workers are with the Newark Board of Education’s Head Start/Office of Early Childhood. The FDC supports Early Childhood Family Workers to help themselves and the families they serve to generate a sense of healthy self-reliance and community and to build the skills they need to take good care of themselves and their families. The family development approach equips Early Childhood Family Workers to help families gain access to the services they need to develop their own strengths and accomplish their goals. PfP is grateful for its collaborative partnership with the National Family Development Credential, which is based at the University of Connecticut.
